GITS 012

This is my Ghost in the Shell synopsis page, well I am sorry to say that I do not have a synopsis for you. There are many Ghost in the Shell synopsis pages on the Internet. What I would like to talk about is computerization and what I got out of the movie. Is something like The Puppet Master possible? Well you make that choice. Before you pass judgment go and rent "Ghost in the Shell," there is more to the movie than what is on this page. I just want people like you, to think about it. What would happen if computers went from aiding in our every day life, to controlling us, or even taking over?
As Art Bell once said, "What would you do if one day you woke up and turned on your computer, and it started talking to you? It started to perform tasks that you are thinking about, even before you tell it what to do." Well, I think it would scare the hell out of me! In the movie "Ghost in the Shell" if your arm gets damaged, no problem, we just put a cybernetic arm on you. The star of the movie is "Major" Motoko Kusanagi. She is 99.9% cybernetic, and the only thing that is real is her ghost (her soul, her essence, her spirit or what ever you would like to call it). Who cares about cloning when we just replace what is wrong with a form of computers, and if you get too old, we just give you a new computerized body that can last forever.

The phrase, "The advent of computers and the subsequent accumulation of incalculable data has given rise to a new system of memory and thought, parallel to your own. Humanity has underestimated the consequences of computerization." It gives me goose bumps when I think about it. Is the computer revolution moving too fast for humanity to understand? Are we on the right path that God (or whatever your belief may be) has set forth? You can be anywhere in the world and read this information. Have we gone too far, or can we turn around and save our selves? We as Humanity rely upon computers for everything we do, what would happen if I told you that you could not use a computer for 24 hours? No one in the world could go with out a computer for 24 hours, think about it. Everything you use has a computer in it one way or another. If you have a new car there is a computer in it, T.Vs., Microwaves, Electricity, Phones, Banks, Police, the Militaries around the world, and so on. Everything we use has a computer in it one form or another, or is connected to a computer.
Now, am I wrong in my thinking? I am just like you, I will use computers till the day I die. I use computers for convenience, just like you. I do not carry cash, I have an ATM and Credit cards in lieu of cash. I do not write checks to pay my bills, I have a computer, so I am able to pay them online. I rely on computers every day to make my life easier.
Just take a moment out of your day to watch "Ghost In The Shell," and then think about computers. Do we (humanity) control the computer, or does the computer control us? Computers are wonderful servants, but poor masters. All I am saying is, use your brain, you were born with it. Never lose perspective of who you are. A person, born from your mother and father, and loved by your family and friends. Do not think I am preaching anything, I wrote this to make you think. It is just entertainment. We are only human, when our time is up, our time is up. If you think that you would like to live for ever, go and rent "Highlander." I would not like to live for ever and watch the people I love and care about die throughout the centuries. When my time is up, I hope I have lived a full life and will regret nothing. So love more, laugh more, worry less, and enjoy life to the fullest.
